Renaissance is inspired by Peter Gabriel’s song, In Your Eyes. I wanted to write about the Syrian conflict and the consequences of it. This is an ongoing problem that we, as a society, haven’t yet tackled. I decided to write a story about a pregnant woman who travels across the sea on a small boat trying to reach safe land and give her future newborn the opportunity of living, growing and learning in safety.
